YEAR RELEASED: 1988

CHART ACTION: None

OTHER SONGS YOU MAY KNOW:  Again, none

LINEUP: Mark Robinson, Phil Krauth, Dave Park

WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: An early release from the experimental pop group that was more experimental and a bit harsher than later stuff.

SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: After some sparsely distributed EPs and singles and cassettes, Unrest records an album that somewhat coalesces their vast influences and desire to mix pop elements with punk and noise. The result is mixed.

You can tell that Robinson has a definite ear for the pop. He’s also got an ear for the abrasive, and some cuts are really just an excuse for noise and clatter. That kind of takes the enjoyment out of the pleasing stuff,

They would evolve into one of the brighter indie-pop-rock lights of the 90’s, but this is just a bit tough to swallow at once.

NOTES & MINUTIAE: There’s an early compilation streaming, but this is the earliest full release that’s out there.

IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: No

GRADE: C: Maybe an EP of the melodious stuff with one noisy one would have been better. A lot has been exiled.
