WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: The epitome of mid-70’s soft rock, especially since they start out kinda rockin’ and end up kinda not rockin’.

SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: Having only heard the hits before I plunged into this compilation, I was surprised that the opening song, “Half Moon”, had some spark and energy. That was from their first album, on ABC, which stiffed and that tune wasn’t released as a single.

Then, we went into the kind of stuff you remember. The good stuff was up-tempo, but nothing too edgy and had a lot of great hooks and harmonies. Then there were the ballads that couldn’t get out of their way, at all. Of the 20 songs, I kept 11, mainly because I’m a sucker for this.

Yeah, it’s 70’s nostalgia. If you’re in the mood to hear the tune that was the ABC Fall Promo song in the late 70’s, by all means…

NOTES & MINUTIAE: Hall was later a congressman in New York State.

IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: No

GRADE: C+: Soft rock schmaltz, but the hooks make some of the songs memorable (and passible).
