WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: First album from band led by two former child-stars showcases Jenny Lewis’ voice, a few decent songs, and enough potential to keep you interested for the next record.

SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: At times confident, at other times tentative, Rilo Kiley’s debut showcases Jenny Lewis’ voice and the quirky, at times overly descriptive songs that would be their trademark.

This batch, though, doesn’t seem like it’s fully baked. Yes, there are some very nice moments, but it seemed that sometimes the songs lingered too long, or they weren’t fully conceptualized.

Lewis’ voice, though, keeps you coming back for more, despite the flaws. The quirks would expand, and become endearing, as time went on. It’s a decent start.

NOTES & MINUTIAE: Blake Sennett was in the Nickelodeon show Salute Your Shorts.

IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: No

GRADE: B:  It’s more for Rilo Kiley completists, but there are some highlights, such as the single.
