WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: Cult band tried to find the gap between hair metal and punk rock. Some liked it; I didn’t.
SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: Bullet LaVolta fell in the cracks between metal and punk, and developed some following in Boston. Kind of like grunge, except Bullet LaVolta’s meld was more of a harsher version, not really concentrating on the riffs, with a less melodic vocal sound and vibe.
This album was an LP and EP re-released by RCA from a local label, but it wasn’t that successful outside of Boston. It’s not a very radio friendly sound, but because of the metal elements it wasn’t really much of a punk vibe. It rubbed me the wrong way, but that may be just me.
NOTES & MINUTIAE: They released another album and opened up for several acts during the time.
IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: Not really – it is a combo of two vinyl releases, though.
GRADE: C: This is definitely a cult act, your mileage may vary. EXILED for me.
