WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: Ex-Rascals meet an ex-Raspberry and two others to make a power-pop supergroup. As with most power pop bands, this stiffed.
SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: It seemed like a good idea on paper, and in execution it was pretty good as well. Wally Bryson of Raspberries fame teamed up with Danelli and Cornish of the Rascals. They found the others (who actually wrote or co-wrote 9 of the 10 songs).
The result was actually a pretty good record. The songs by Marchesi and Vinci are right in there with the other power pop standards and the more famous members add great harmonies and a professional edge.
However, it did not measure up to expectations, mainly because the record companies and radio stations were all about disco at the time, not power pop. This sank, their two followups stank and sank, and There. You. Go.
NOTES & MINUTAE: Cornish and Danelli were in Bulldog before Fotomaker. They had a minor hit called No which you may have heard.
IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: No, I doubt if there are any outtakes. This group released three albums in 18 months trying to get a hit.
GRADE: B : Decent songs and some decent hooks make a decent power pop record.
