ARTIST: Dave Matthews Band
TITLE: Remember Two Things
YEAR RELEASED: 1993
CHART ACTION: #49
SINGLES: None
OTHER SONGS YOU MAY KNOW: Ants Marching, Tripping Billies, Satellite
LINEUP: Carter Beauford, Stefan Lessard, David Matthews, LeRoi Moore, Boyd Tinsley. Tim Reynolds duets with Matthews on four tracks.
WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: Independent release, half live, sets the stage for their major label signing.
SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: Out of the womb, the Dave Matthews Band seemed fully formed. Three of the first four tracks are familiar to fans of their early material, and they pretty much sound the same with more jamming elements in them (it’s live you know).
There’s some early studio work and some duets between Matthews and Tim Reynolds. All pretty much again fits the DMB bill.
If you like, it, you’ll like it. It won’t convert anyone and there’s no aha moment. File this for ‘fans’.
NOTES & MINUTIAE: One studio track was allegedly recorded in a bathroom.
IS THERE A DELUXE VERSION: Two additional studio tracks on the re-release.
GRADE: C+: It all depends on what you think of the Dave Matthews Band. I don’t HATE them, but I may be a bit jaded about them.
