WHAT’S IT ALL ABOUT: Jenny Lewis goes new-wave with a minimalist trio.

SOME WORDS, PHRASES AND CLAUSES ABOUT THIS RECORD: Formed initially to play at a Bernie Sanders rally, Nice as Fuck allowed Jenny Lewis to get her new-wave on. Grabbing veterans from female bands (Au Revoir Simone and The Like), Lewis collaborates on a brief yet fun-sounding album.

It’s spare and minimal – in a way sounding a bit like ESG in how the bass and drum work together – and Lewis’ voice guides the music.

I don’t know if they’ll continue after 2016 – it was formed for an election year – but if so Lewis can be a decent new waver.
